For a while now, I have been slowly soaking in many ideas and truths from a book I hold very dear called, "Captivating"-unveiling the mysteries of a woman's soul. I absolutely love books from which I can learn and indeed I am learning!
I've been learning about the strength of a man. Man in his very essence is strength. A man is meant to be the incarnation-our experience in human form-of our Warrior God. A God who comes through for us. (pg. 128)
The strength of a man is often mistaken. It is seen as physical strength-the size of his muscles, when in reality, if the only strength the men in our lives possess is physical then they are weak and are hollow. The strength, john and stasi eldredge are speaking of, is a soulish strength-the strength of his heart!. It is a strength in which the men in our lives speak on our behalf. "For when men abuse with words, we are pierced. Their strength has wounded us. When they are silent, (in our affliction) we are starved. But when they speak with us, hear us, offer their words to us and on our behalf, something in our hearts is able to rest." (pg.129)
As women we also long to be protected and shielded from physical, emotional, and spiritual attack. To pray for us in difficulty and stand up for us when we cannot stand for ourselves.
I can name countless times where my Jonathan has shown the inner strength all men were designed to live out. There was a certain situation about 5 months ago where I was hurt from an attack from the enemy on a job I've had for a while. (mr.mike's) And he in my up most need, stood up by my side and offered his words and his prayers. After he prayed for me, and ushered in his car the presence of the Lord, I knew in my heart everything was going to be just fine. He really saw me through! I will always remember the strength he has!
And even now, I know in our time of hardship, he will continue to be that man of strength. The one who fights for us-our relationship, to make sure it is protected. I love that about you, Jon! You have what it takes. We will make it through whatever comes our way!
I love you Jonathan and I always will stand by you!!! |
